Sedona, Arizona Run

Talk about ironic, my trek to Sedona started with a ride in a smelly flatbed truck!  Jim and Caroline Musgrove informed me it was ok to ride my modern bike as a few others would be doing the same. I loaded my full dresser to the gills with enough stuff for a month complete with rain suit, 4 pairs of shoes,  blow dryers his and hers,  etc. etc. Fully loaded with two up I head out for the eight hour jaunt.  About an hour into the ride, I notice my new XM radio quits. Damn no music, a few minutes later, I look down and notice that the battery isn’t charging, a few minutes later I’m pushing the bike into an Arco station! ....

By the time I got back home and un-packed 4 hours had gone by.  I loaded the trusty Indian chief into the truck and I pulled into Sedona around midnight and I might add the Chief ran perfect as expected.  The first day we wound up in Mormon lake for a good lunch at the lodge.  Funny thing though Mormon lake has no water in it. Evidently Arizona is going thru a serious drought. After the ride the whole gang met on a patio at the west end of the hotel for happy hour.  The hotel was perfect for our group single story all the rooms next to each other with a huge patio on the end with beautiful views of the red rock country.  Kevin Spear and I made a side trip to old town Flagstaff for an afternoon in an old fashioned pub, the bikes sitting in front got lots of attention.

The next day we went to a BBQ hosted by Dee Cameron and his wife. What a neat spread he’s got in Prescott. Its a small ranch with plenty of room for a motocross track!  Talk about food he put out a spread fit for a king. Also he’s got a huge garage where all his bikes were displayed .In the corner under an empty Captain Morgan rum bottle I noticed a magneto that might have been stolen from my ‘26 Chief  from a meet in Sheboygan but I didn’t say anything, I didn’t want to embarrass Dee in front of family and friends.

In keeping tradition, myself and a select number of members thought it appropriate to check out the watering holes in old town Prescott, this of coarse just to make sure the Arizona health inspectors are doing their job. The first establishment, built in the 1800s complete with sagging floors met our criteria. We were compelled being good citizens to inspect another establishment on our journey back to Sedona in the town of Jerome witch is literally built into a hillside! I’m pleased to report that the establishment passed muster even though the band was a little warbled. Our group including party animal Grace, myself, Spear and a few others made it back without incident, but I haven’t heard  from Nevada Bob and company?  There probably still in Arizona dutifully checking out watering holes.

A good time was had by all and was hoping Bob and Caroline will host the event next year.
