Rainbow Run

This year’s Rainbow Run attracted about eight (8) riders, and we were blessed with near-perfect weather for a scenic ride through the high country.  Originating at the Rainbow Oaks restaurant just south of Temecula, we proceeded northeastward into the Anza region at about 3000 feet elevation.  From there, we climbed to the ridge above Palm Springs and headed westward into Idyllwild, with an elevation of nearly 6000 feet!  The group stopped for a relaxing lunch at Joann’s restaurant in the center of the village, then retraced our route to Highway 74 before descending into Hemet, dropping at least 4500 feet in elevation.  After a brief gas stop and rest in Hemet, we proceeded southward through the hills, emerging in the Temecula Wine Country and meandering southwestward back to our original starting point at Rainbow Oaks.  The total route encompassed nearly 120 miles of scenic, non-congested highway enjoyed by all.

We have varied the route for this run over the past several years, but this venue seems to be the most enjoyable.  It was good to see our friend Jeff Moore back on the road with a re-invigorated bike beneath him.  My sidecar rig led the way at a moderate pace, and was graced by the presence of my friend George Lawrence as passenger.  Thanks to all of you who made the run and enjoyed the scenic route
