Joshua Tree Road Run

March 30 – April 1, 2007

This years Joshua Tree trip was another success with picture perfect weather! The group included illustrious president Tim Graber, Ken Mulholland and Patricia, the Musgroves, Hutch and his grandson, Hutch’s pal Bob Mohler. Nevada Bob, Pete Seville, Johnny Eagles, Jim Hinton. and last but not least, Hoken. Tom Hart stopped by for a visit on his VW pimpmobile!

Tim and I met early at Hutches for lunch on Friday. We were joined by Hutch for lunch and afterwards got a tour of Hutch’s new motorcycle dealership. The new building is still under construction and will feature only Japanese bikes as the Harleys will remain at the present location.  Friday afternoon found us early birds on a ride thru Wonder Valley and finally to the watering hole, “The Palms”. When you look up Dive Bar in the dictionary there’s a picture of this place!  Battered up old jalopies in front... toothless smelly drunk patrons. This year we were smart and left before any fights broke out!  Friday was capped off at the Rib Company with great food and refreshments.

Saturday we took the ride to Chirico Summit with a stop a campground where, with the help of Hobo John, Doc Sucher drove out to the park to accept a plaque from the national. View a Photo Here  It was great to see Harry he was delighted to see his pals. View another Photo Here  Saturday night we had the traditional dinner at the 29 Palms Inn....good food and good company. After it was back to the Rancho Dolores for high octane drinks.  The only casualty was Musgrove, thru a chain this was quickly repaired by our experts including Tim and Bob.

Sunday we took up the usual run up to Keyes View. The only casualty was Tim’s Chief with apparent battery problems. One would think that the Club president would pay more attention to details. The Chief looked forlorn in the back of Musgrove’s truck...  Déjà vu, as not long ago on the Arizona ride guess whose bike made the run in the back of Musgroves truck? Yep the Chief with battery problems...
